Brighton
2021
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK went into various different lockdowns, the longest one from Christmas 2020 to April 2021. I took the opportunity of the colder months and the quieter streets to finally test out my Dad’s Leica camera. This was the first roll of film I have shot in a decade, but I am absolutely stunned by the results. The thing I love most about these shots is that at first glance they look like they could be from the 1930s. The texture, the grain, the composition, the feel. But when you look a little closer, you can see the telltale signs of the pandemic, a truly modern phenomenon. And this combination is more than I could have hoped for. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this little beauty of a camera. Shot on an Leica iiia.
